15th January 2011

As the Gardening Club is on a Winter Break until February a few parents and teachers braved the wind and rain today to plant and weave our latest addition - Our Living Willow Dome.

The Willow Whips' delivery had been delayed due to the snow and ice in November and have been in 'cold storage' since the beginning of December so it was crucial that we took the opportunity of the milder weather to get them in quick.

Hopefully they'll take and in a few short months the children will see the 'skeleton' dome grow into a full, leaf-covered, outside class area.

We will be back in full swing after the February break planting our early potatoes, more tree saplings that are due and vigorously seeding our new crops for this year.

Hopefully the recycled bottle greenhouse will also have been constructed by then if we can gather some volunteer manpower with drills as the children have done all they can.

Any Parents or Carers of children in St. Bernard's, or indeed anyone in the local community who could help putting the panels together and fixing the posts in the ground please contact the school, your help would be very much appreciated.
